A like-for-like replacement in the same position sits at the lower end. Relocating the boiler, converting from a conventional system to a combi, or upsizing for an additional bathroom all add cost — largely in pipework rather than the boiler itself. We will advise which of those you genuinely require.

Manufacturer cover is invalidated routinely — by a missing filter, an unflushed system, or a skipped annual service. Installing it correctly on day one is what keeps the manufacturer's cover intact.
Correct sizing matters
An oversized boiler is the most common error in British homes — it short-cycles, wastes gas and wears prematurely. An undersized one leaves a lukewarm shower whenever a tap runs. The correct output depends on your radiators, bathrooms and water pressure. We calculate it from the property, not from a price list.

Do we need a new boiler, or can it be repaired?
Sometimes a diverter valve and £200 resolves it, and we will tell you so if that is the case. We would rather carry out an honest repair now and be the contractor you call in five years. Once repairs exceed roughly £600 on a boiler over twelve years old, replacement generally makes better sense.
Which brand should we choose?
Worcester Bosch and Vaillant are the reliable defaults and we install a great many of both. Ideal and Baxi are sound at a lower price point. The right choice depends on budget and property — we receive no commission from any manufacturer, so the recommendation is simply what we would install ourselves.
Will the airing cupboard be left in a state?
Floors protected, the old boiler carried out, and everything cleaned before we leave. Where a conventional system is being converted, the tank and cylinder are removed and taken away, and you recover the cupboard space.

If it is under roughly ten years old and the repair runs to a few hundred pounds, usually yes. If it is older than twelve, parts are becoming scarce, and the repair exceeds £600, replacement is generally the better decision. We will give an honest view rather than automatically sell a new unit.
That is set by the manufacturer rather than by us — typically 5 to 10 years depending on the model, provided it is registered and serviced annually. We register it on the day of installation so the cover starts correctly.
